Sara Kamal is in her final semester in the UNMA program here at Rutgers University. Her research interests include human rights and international law, with a focus in the Middle East and North Africa region. As her time comes to a close in UNMA, Sara is spending her final semester as a policy intern for the Muslim Public Advocacy Council (MPAC) in Washington DC. As part of the policy team at MPAC, Sara conducts research surrounding crucial issues in MENA, including the precarious situation in Afghanistan and the subsequent refugee crisis, the humanitarian issues in occupied Palestine, as well as Western involvement in MENA affairs. Sara looks forward to continuing her career in policy advocacy post-graduation and hopes to use her expertise, Arabic heritage and language abilities to pursue these goals both domestically and internationally.
