In the Summer of 2020, Mateusz interned as an intern in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs at the US State Department. In this role, Mateusz assisted Congressional Advisors in their efforts to promote administration priorities in and to act as a liaison with Congressmembers, the relevant House and Senate committees, and staff. This involved working on a multitude of short-and-long-term projects. He had to provide daily scrubs of social media for relevant tweets and press releases and listen in on near-daily Bureau meetings or Congressional briefings, which occasionally required him to take notes for immediate Bureau distribution. He was also tasked with producing member bios prior to Bureau or State Department engagements with members of Congress. Lastly, he assisted with long-term legislative research and other research projects. This included researching and interviewing diplomats who exhibited a passion and dedication to public service.
