Omar Elhatab is a graduate of the MA in United Nations and Global Policy Studies with a concentration in Cybersecurity and Counter-Terrorism. Before completing his graduate studies at Rutgers University, Omar earned his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers in Political Science and Criminal Justice, along with a minor in Computer Science, graduating Summa Cum Laude. His academic journey has equipped him with a strong foundation in international affairs, global internet security, and legal frameworks. With a passion for justice and law, Omar aspires to continue his career in the legal domain. He will continue his education at the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law, where he will study cybersecurity, technology, and intellectual property law. He views AI and machine learning as transformative technologies that hold great potential but also significant risks if left unchecked. Omar believes these emerging fields must be managed with a strong ethical framework to ensure they serve society while protecting individual rights and privacy. Proficient in both English, Arabic, and elementary proficiency in French, he aims to leverage his skills to advocate for equitable policies and innovative solutions in the international realm. A strong advocate for the intersection of technology and policy, Omar believes in the power of collaboration to create meaningful change.
