Billy Folinusz, a Major in the US Army, enrolled in the Master’s Program in Political Science –United Nations and Global Policy Studies at Rutgers University as a part of the Army’s Advanced Civil Schooling program. He has served in roles ranging from platoon leader to executive officer of an Armored Brigade Combat Team in combat, training, and garrison environments. Billy holds an undergraduate degree in history from James Madison University, Master of Public Policy from Temple University, and a Master of Operational and Strategic Studies from the US Army’s Command General Staff College. He was selected as a graduate fellow by Rutgers Eagleton Institute of Politics that offered him an internship at the NJ State Assembly Majority Office. In addition, Billy was offered a teaching assistant position for Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway’s Byrne Seminar on Citizenship, Institutions, and the Public.
Post-graduation, Billy will report to the United States Military Academy to serve as an instructor in the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic where he will teach moral and ethical leadership. He is using his time with the UNMA program to better understand international and domestic institutions, democracy and citizenship.
Billy will continue to serve as an active-duty Army officer for the foreseeable future where he will focus on leading soldiers wherever needed. “My passion for leadership, democracy, institutions, and the skills required to be an engaged citizen will be the driving force for my professional goals both during my military service and once I retire. I continue to thrive on providing strong moral and ethical leadership in challenging environments that strengthen our democracy, whether those opportunities are in or out of a military uniform”.
His biggest accomplishment is being a proud husband to Theresa, and father to Theodore, Quinn, and Grace.
