Jay Weisbond is currently a first-year student in the UNMA program. Jay has recently started an internship at the Office of Assemblyman Sterley Stanley of New Jersey’s 18th legislative district in East Brunswick. As an intern, Jay has performed duties such as conducting policy research for potential and current bills, developing social media graphics and content on regularly, responding to and monitoring email correspondence with constituents regarding their questions, concerns, or requests, assisting with general administrative tasks, tracking Assembly bills and activity for the Office of the Governor of New Jersey, communicating with individuals, organizations, and community groups, and attending New Jersey General Assembly voting sessions. Currently, Jay is researching legislation that will help low-income and marginalized communities obtain easier access to essential medicines at an affordable cost. Jay is also
currently looking into environmental legislation in environmental policy leading states. He hopes that his experience both from this internship and from the UNMA program can be applied to a job in policy and research.
