UNMA Students on the Move: “I spent the summer of 2018 working for TsingYan Research, a consultant think tank founded by a couple of professor from Tsinghua University. During my internship, I was assigned to work on the midterm review of the five-year plan for Shijingshan District (which is one of six districts of Beijing), I was responsible for writing three chapters, which is more than 40 page of the 150-page report, the subject of the three chapters are social welfare, moral and ideological development, law and order. I work very closely with the local municipal government for the Shijingshan District and the Development and Reform Commission for the city of Beijing. Writing this report was definitely not an easy task, we have to go through thousands of pages of government document trying to assess the progress of each assignment, talking with 52 departments within the Shijingshan District municipal government, hosting evaluation meeting with key department heads as well as official from Development & Reform Commission for the city of Beijing and National Development & Reform Commission. But none of those challenges are insurmountable, after a couple of 60-70 hour work weeks, we finally produced a report that was approved by the district party leader and it became official government document after it was passed by the people’s congress in September, 2018.”
