Herrera is currently the Program Assistant at the Institute for Women's Leadership Consortium at Eagleton Institute and is serving as an Advisor Intern for the Costa Rica Permanent Mission to the United Nations. At the UN, she is serving on the Security Council and Fourth Committee on Peacekeeping Operations. As an Advisor Intern, she has attended multiple UN meetings and conducted research reports regarding security and gender, peacekeeping and gender, environment and gender. At Rutgers University, she has worked with the Center for Women in Politics at Eagleton for two years as a Student Project Assistant. She has also interned with Amnesty International USA in New York with their Events Team and interned with Hyacinth AIDS Foundation as a Community Organizer where she was able to organize World’s AIDS Day and work on the ground with HIV clients.

Upon meeting the first Black Woman Vice President of Costa Rica, she states:
