Marius Bug is an MA candidate for degrees in Political Science and Global Policy from Rutgers University and in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz in Germany. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz, too. During his undergraduate studies, Marius took part in a one-year exchange with the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Guadalajara, Mexico. While pursuing his graduate degrees, he was also a visiting student at the University of Zürich and Princeton University.
Marius’ research focus is mainly situated in the field of international development and political economy. More specifically, he is interested in the intersection between health, social protection, population dynamics and climate change. During his studies, he acquired both extensive skills in professional writing as well as in quantitative social-scientific methodology, with an emphasis on data analytics and visualization.
During his undergraduate and graduate studies, Marius also gained substantive practical experience. On the one hand, he applied scientific methods to help address real-world problems, interning at the Berlin-based evaluation company InterVal and working as a research assistant at the chair for Comparative Politics in Konstanz for several years. Moreover, in internships both at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the German development agency GIZ in the areas of heath, social protection and population dynamics, Marius worked at processing and presentation of data, public communication and administration in the development sphere.
In the future, he wishes to employ his skillset in international cooperation and sustainable development. Marius is fluent in English, German and Spanish and intermediate in French. He also has basic proficiency in Chinese.
