Bio:

Tyler Van Vliet is a 2020 Master’s degree graduate in Political Science and Global Affairs through the UNMA program with a concentration in conflict resolution, counter-terrorism, and cyber security. Tyler has a particular interest in international relations and foreign policy. During his time as an undergrad, Tyler helped found and served as the vice president of the Strategy and Diplomacy Club at Ramapo College, an organization which sought to introduce students to basic ideas of international relations and strategy. As an undergraduate, Tyler was a double major, receiving a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in Political Science and History, graduating Summa cum laude in the spring of 2018.

Tyler interned at the non-profit organization the Clery Center beginning in the fall of 2019. Here he performed policy research and analysis relating to campus safety, with a particular focus on violent sexual crimes. Tyler produced literature reviews and regularly read over newly introduced legislature relating to the Clery Act among other responsibilities during his time at the Clery Center.

After completing his Master’s, Tyler hopes to do similar policy work for an NGO focused on peacekeeping or conflict resolution or continue his education and pursue a PhD.
