SBS Dean's Distinguished Lectureship Talk: The Far Right by Cas Mudde

Cas Mudde, one of the foremost experts on right wing politics and populism in the world, is the Stanley Wade Shelton UGAF Professor of International Affairs and a Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Georgia as well as an Adjunct Professor at the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX) at the University of Oslo. He is the author, among others, of “The Far Right Today” (Polity, 2019) and (with Cristóbal Rovira Kaltwasser) Today” (Polity, 2019) and (with Cristóbal Rovira Kaltwasser) “Populism: A Very Short Introduction” (Oxford University Press, 2017). He is currently working on two new research projects, one on soccer and politics and one on the transformation of European politics (with Tarik Abou-Chadi). Event information is below:

The far right is stronger today than ever before in history. But this is neither your father’s nor your grandfather’s far right. The far
right today might hold largely the same ideas as before, it looks and operates completely different. In this talk, Cas will argue that we
are in the fourth wave of the postwar far right and discuss how it is transforming global politics and its study.
